Dr. Mohamed Aslam Akbar

Mohamed Aslam Akbar currently works as an Assistant Professor of Shariah Sciences at the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). With a background in Arabic language and Alimiyyah in Shariah sciences, he earned Fazil Daura-e-Hadith from Jamiah Islamiyyah Darul Uloom Deoband. His academic journey includes a Master’s in Islamic thought and a Ph.D. in philosophy, ethics, and contemporary issues from IIUM. He is a dedicated researcher delving into economic thought in early Muslim scholarship, Maqasid al-Shariah based developments, and teaches courses in Islamic commercial jurisprudence, economics in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and sustainable development goals. Based in Malaysia, Akbar’s work bridges Islamic wisdom with diverse disciplines, fostering a deeper understanding of ethical values and principles while exploring their practical applications in contemporary economic and societal contexts.
