Encik Musa Bin Abdul Malek (Encik Musa), aged 68, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad on 1 August 2019. Encik Musa has over 37 years of working experience in banking. He began his career at HSBC Group in 1979.

During his 31 years of a career with the HSBC Group, he held several management positions in various departments/functions, including Credit, Debt Origination of Debt Capital Market in Hong Kong, Corporate Relationship, Islamic Banking and Bumiputra Unit, Business Development, Branch operations, and Product Development and Management. He assumed the role of Deputy Managing Director of HSBC Amanah Malaysia in 2007 and was subsequently appointed as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2008. He then joined Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad in 2010 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. During his 3 years of tenure at Bank Muamalat, he was responsible for managing the business functions of the Bank and assisting the CEO in other operational matters. Prior to his retirement in 2016, Encik Musa was with CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad as the Managing Director overseeing the Islamic banking business in CIMB Niaga, Indonesia, and subsequently as the Group Head of Islamic Banking, Consumer Banking.

He is presently on the Board of Avisena Group, a healthcare organization that currently manages two (2) Specialist hospitals in Shah Alam. Encik Musa obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from the University of Ohio/Institute Technology of Mara, Malaysia, and a Diploma in Tourism Administration (Dean’s List), MARA Institute of Technology, Malaysia.
